"Razor..."
words: Hayato, music: Shun
translation: konomi and moo
If I look back, I see that the two of us
were far from being lovers.
Cigarette smoke mingled with a sigh
clouds up even my eyes.
The color that only the razor plays* is spreading through the water.
The red thread** on my finger which is about to become untied,
I try to pull it towards me. I can't let us get separated.
I collect the crumbling fragments of my dreams.
If I carve my memories into my wrist, I can sleep quietly.
(welcome! this is the place where everything is hated...
I will teach you what is needed in life.
wake up your mind!!!
I'll reject it....
lie dying!
Stay back!!
Don't deny it!)
At the time when we'd only just met, the words we exchanged were innocent.
In due course, time passed, and the only voice I could hear was the sound of waves.
If I have courage to lose, could I have been with you?
I want to see your smiling face, so I will sacrifice everything.
The red thread on my finger which is about to become untied,
I try to pull it towards me. I can't let us get separated.
I collect the crumbling fragments of my dreams.
If I carve my memories into my wrist, quietly I...
Goodbye to the smile I loved,
I sink into sleep along with my tears.
Someday I want to envelop you
like the light shines on the night sky. I go into the darkness.
The song appears to be about commiting suicide by cutting the wrist, in order to see a dead lover.
*kanaderu is 'to play an instrument'. My guess is that it's kind of like how you play a violin. Of course this is just what I think. But I imagine the razor acting like a violin bow against the person's arm. That's usually where people cut themselves.
So maybe it's kind of like when you play an instrument you get music, but if you play that, you get color flowing out(blood).
**The red thread is a popular image in Japan. The basic idea behind it is, that two destined lovers are connected by an invisible red thread that is tied to their small finger on their left hand. I believe the person he is referring to is already dead, which is why the thread is slipping from his finger.
